Typograpy Ideas and Insiration

Typography Ideas

How we are going to incorporate our titles?

With our thriller we don't want the titles to interrupt the flow of our narrative so we came up with the idea of incorporating the titles inside our movie scape while it also contributing to the narrative itself and also adding to the detective/film noir genre. Our narrative is a detective going over an old case in which his old partner was killed and the case got forgot about, the starting scene consists of the main detective going through old newspapers and old case files, these props will be where the titles are situated; blended in with cunningly with what seems to be case notes. For example when the main detective is reading through the case file there will be a section in which it says "Main Detective On Case" and it will have a picture of the actor in costume and next to it will be the title for the character/actor, this will be very similar for the suspects and obviously the victim. The other titles for the production teams and so on will be in the other parts of the files or newspapers around finger prints and footprints and that kind of things, really emphasizing the detective genre giving the audience lots of immersion. To furthermore emphasize the genre the typography we have decided to use is different types of typewriter fonts to fit the age feel, we have different fonts for older documents and newer documents. Our Inspiration: Sherlock Holmes

As we are doing a detective thriller we researched films of the detective sub genre and one film in particular inspired us the most; Sherlock Holmes the way the titles are in that film are extremely alike to what we wanted to create, the way it changes from actual movie scenes to where the titles where shown in like a old book/file of the time giving the immersion and action the audience want without interrupting the narrative to much creating a genuine detective and old time feel. We will follow the same kind of style but for a different time period as we want to go for a 1980's style detective and not the Victorian time period Sherlock Holmes is set in.
